A Tribute to The British Invasion: The Second Wave 1967-1973 at The Fillmore Silver Spring

In 2010 BandHouse Gigs presented A Tribute to the British Invasion 1964-66, in a two-night run, one of our most popular shows. This new production continues the journey, following up with the anticipated second wave of one of the most exciting periods of popular music to captivate American youth in the 20th century.

The second wave of the British Invasion kicked off in 1967 when the seeds of psychedelia spread by the Beatles epic releases of that year spawned new creative heights among many of the British bands that had conquered America. The next few years also saw the emergence of hard edged and sometimes trippy British blues finding its way into many of the new bands coming from the U.K.

Many of the first wave British Invasion bands such as The Who, The Kinks, The Rolling Stones, and The Zombies released their most accomplished records in that time period. Meanwhile, new bands like Cream, Traffic, Free, and Led Zeppelin sprang up causing the music world to stop and take notice.
